WHO NEEDS SCIENCE?? We all do!
A basic knowledge of Science allows people to be better informed citizens to make important contributions to society. Logical, critical thinking and the ability to analyse science information are most valuable skills
Science knowledge and skills are required for many careers. Research shows that science subjects are very challenging to pick up later if the basic groundwork is missing. Science is therefore compulsory to Year 11 - ensuring 4 options remain open in Year 12

SUBJECTS NEEDED
- Some careers and courses require a certain minimum of Level 2 Science credits. MANY require a certain minimum of Level 3 Science credits
- One Science subject is great, but EVEN BETTER is 2 or more! The learning from the Sciences is often complementary (the subjects help each other)
- Mathematics and Science often go well together (but not always)
- University Entrance requires Level 3 (60 Level 3 credits), including 14 from each of 3 approved subjects as well as UE literacy and numeracy
- MANY universities apply a GUARANTEED ENTRY SCORE - whereby each Excellence credit gives 4 points, each Merit credit 3 and each Achieved 2 points. An example is Auckland University BSc, requiring between 165 and 280 points
